Arendals Dampskibsselskaps AS (ADS) is a privately owned shipping company located in Arendal, Norway, from where it has been operating since its foundation in 1857.
The company was originally a liner operator being one of the pioneers on the Norwegian coast in the steamship era. In 1969 the last vessel under ADS flag – the MV “Oslo” – was sold.
The company was acquired and reactivated by its current owners in 2008 and have since 2012 been co-owner and operator of shuttle tankers with dual-fuel LNG propulsion in Northern Europe.
The company has operational experience from capturing and handling VOC (“volatile organic compounds”) when loading crude oil offshore.
ADS focus on zero emissions for the maritime industry (e.g. technical and operational concepts for ammonia fueled tankers and bulk carriers).
ADS manages the listed maritime investment company ADS Maritime Holding Plc.
